About twenty kilometers away are Volterra, rich in artistic and monumental testimonies ranging from the Etruscan period to the nineteenth century, San Gimignano, which with the profile of its towers stands on a hill dominating the Val d'Elsa and Certaldo, of Etruscan-Roman origins, the birthplace of the famous writer and poet Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375).
