Saint-Raphaël is a coastal commune in the Var department of France. The port city of St-Raphaël is a popular seaside resort and dates back to Roman times. The pyramid in the Avenue du Commandant-Guilbaud recalls Napoleon's return from Egypt in this port. The Templar church from the 12th century was built as a fortress church. In the museum of archaeological marine finds, there are numerous Greek amphorae from the 5th century BC.
Environmental tips:
A trip to Aqualand or to the animal park in Fréjus, about 5 km away, is a nice change.
Need some refreshment? Then go to Aqualand in Sainte Maxime, about 25km from St Raphael.
The Saint-Léonce cathedral is located in the historic center of Fréjus and dates back to the Middle Ages. The baptismal font dates from the 5th century and is one of the oldest in France. The archaeological museum with finds from the region is also housed here.
The Esterel massif is stunningly beautiful. The view over the Alps is breathtaking.
Ideal location for a trip to Cannes. While you're here, be sure to visit the musée de la mer, musée de l'automobile and musée de la Castre.
