#Savoie #Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne
In the mountains; Among nature; Near water
The richness of nature here is endless: the high summit of Lauzière, the Madeleine pass, the Cheval Noir and the peaks of the Maurienne and Vanoise are all above 2000 meters, are also part of the spectacular landscape. You can go climbing or walking in different places and heights, even above 3000 meters. You can also choose from a number of hiking routes. In July you have the opportunity to participate in the Transmonjoie walking event or on the adventurous trail organized in the forest of Nant Burian. Thanks to the ski lift you can also visit the Bleu et Blanc lake. Another place worth visiting is the glacier l'Étendard. You can not miss it: The Festival de la Lune Bleue (the Blue Moon Festival) that takes place in July and the village festival in August. Close to the residence are several shops (about 50 meters) and an aquatic center, Le Forum des Eaux Bernard Hinault, where you can swim and enjoy balneotherapy, in other words: relaxing.
Ski resort
- Minimum height: 1450 m
- Maximum height: 2550 m
The ski area 'Le Grand Domaine' includes the villages of Saint François Longchamp, Valmorel and Doucy Combelouvière and it is one of the largest ski areas in the Savoie. The approximately 165km of sunny slopes offer a level of difficulty for all types of skiers. The ski resort of Saint François Longchamp itself is somewhat smaller and more suitable for skiing with the family. Yet it is a wonderful area and it will certainly also satisfy the less active skiers. If necessary, the pistes are provided with extra snow by the snow cannons (315 in the "Grand Domaine" ski resort).
Langlaufliefhebbers, for you there is the 'grand coin zone' at Montaimant, here are 40km of marked cross-country trails ready for you. They connect nice small mountain villages such as Montpascal and Le Chatel. The best way to discover the Savoy forests and hamlets or the Chaussy mountain pass.
The resort also offers 2 snow parks for free-riders, as well as 2x boarder cross with railings, half pipes and moguls.
